If you want to write a book, set aside a couple of hours each day during which you do nothing else but work towards that goal. If you want a lean physique, set aside a couple of hours each day during which you do nothing else but work towards that goal. Problem. What working mother has four hours a day to pursue a dream of perfection disconnected from her responsibilities for others?
When Mother Superior told Maria to “climb every mountain and ford every stream” until she found her dream, she failed to provide guidance on how to confront the need to climb mountains on opposite sides of the stream. What happens if you keep climbing halfway up to turn around, run down, ford the stream, and go halfway up the other mountain? You eventually stop, sit down by the stream, have a drink, and take a nap – neither goal achieved.
Maybe a rainbow will form, connect the two mountains, and I can go over it? The Wizard would advise a brisk walk down the yellow brick road.
